"Satisfied. . .but Unaware of Their Real Needs"
Farming
7000 acres of corn, beans, and some wheat requires a lot of work, not just
handling the daily farming tasks but also keeping track of production and
financial data. John and Lori Frey were satisfied with their computer program
for record-keeping, Microsoft Money, and thought that it was meeting their
needs. However, they were not aware of what could
be done with an accounting program specifically tailored for agricultural operations.
Then,
nearly three years ago, the Freys attended an AgManager seminar and realized
that their satisfaction with Microsoft Money was ill-founded; they had been
unaware of their real needs and what was available to meet those needs. In
order to make sound business decisions, a lot more information was required,
current data presented in an easy-to-decipher form. They were thrilled to
discover AgManager, a program tailored for agricultural needs, designed to
combine production and financial data to provide always-current detailed
information. They signed up to begin using AgManager through a John Deere pilot
program. The Freys liked the program and continued to use it; they have now
been using it for two full years.
"All Our Ducks in a Row"
As
the Freys look back at their years of unfounded complacency, they realize that
before they began to use AgManager, they made financial decisions on a "need
basis" with no financial information to back up those decisions. "Now," they
explain, "we look at accounting reports, going through them first before we
make decisions." John and Lori have learned the importance of knowing their
current financial position. With AgManager, "we know exactly where we stand at
any given time and where we should spend money (asset purchases)." Now the
Freys can move ahead with confidence, knowing that their business decisions are
sound. As Lori describes it, "AgManager lets us put all our ducks in a row."
Our AgriSolutions Service
Provider: As Valuable As the Software
The
Freys are quick to praise their AgriSolutions Service Provider for his help,
saying he is "as valuable as the software package." Not only does he meet with
John quarterly to answer their questions, but also does a monthly analysis of
their data via e-mail and telephone, checking for any errors, problems or "red
flags." John and Lori feel free to ask him questions, seek his suggestions and
use him as a sounding board for their own ideas.
"Never Sent on a Wild Goose
Chase"
In
addition to the Service Provider, AgriSolutions provides a toll-free number to
call for help. The Freys have learned that with other software packages, you
are "on your own," but that is not the case with AgManager. Lori explains: "There is so much help behind
the software. We have never not
gotten the answers we need, and those answers are usually given within 24
hours, that same day we call. Everyone is very helpful and you are never sent
on a wild goose chase. I give them an A+ on support."
